Local Law Enforcement
Roughly fifty cars have been smeared with what seems to be blood from a person in the Germany's municipality of Hanau in proximity to Frankfurt, according to law enforcement.
Vehicles, exterior walls and postal boxes were vandalized, in some cases with swastikas, they stated in a official communication.
Law enforcement say they were alerted late on Wednesday evening, when a man observed that a car in the Lamboy district of Hanau had been smeared with a reddish-hued liquid.
The substance had been drawn in the shape of a Nazi symbol, they reported.
Police then located numerous other smeared vehicles and residential walls in the surrounding area.
Nazi symbols are banned in Germany under regulations outlawing the visible presentation of Nazi-era symbols.
Law enforcement state preliminary tests show the liquid was likely blood from a person.
"Currently there is no lead as to where it came from; investigators are presently not cognizant of any injuries in connection with the incident," they added.
City officials said they were trying "to solve the incident" and have asked to the residents for tips.
An important political figure stated the attack rendered him without words and needed to be addressed rapidly.
"This event strikes at the very heart of Hanau and revives the trauma of the far-right violent incident in 2020," he posted on social media, referring to the death of nine individuals by a shooter targeting individuals of migrant background in February 2020.
